True confessions: This is my favorite book. I remember reading it first at age seven or so (there are doodly pencil marks on the page to prove it), and relishing the fact that the Little Prince had got one over on the adults (who thought that a picture of a boa constrictor swallowing an elephant was instead a hat). I loved that his rose was unique in all the world; I loved that the fox let the Little Prince tame him. Even at an early age, I somehow got the idea that no matter how far the Little Prince traveled, his own home where he’d made a life for himself and his rose was best. This book taught me so much about the care that goes into any relationship, whether it be with a rose or a fox, and about trusting oneself. Its simple lessons have lasted throughout my life thus far.
