It Looked Like Spilt Milk

The title of this book suggests a mystery, and the clues on each page will launch your child’s flight of fancy. Only two colors are used in this book—blue and white—and they hint at the answer: “Sometimes it looked like Spilt Milk. But it wasn’t Spilt Milk,” the book begins. A burst of white that seems to have long ears and a cotton-tail, set against a blue background, appears with the text, “Sometimes it looked like a Rabbit. But it wasn’t a Rabbit.” Next comes a shape that appears to possess wings and a beak: “Sometimes it looked like a Bird. But it wasn’t a Bird.” Your child will have fun guessing what “it” is, while naming the many things he or she does recognize: an ice cream cone, a birthday cake, an angel. And after your children discover the answer, they will start to see familiar shapes in everything around them.
